Computer Viruses

Your computer can become infected with a virus through email attachments, downloaded files that are corrupted, or from a diskette or CD-ROM, DVD, USB drive, or any media that someone has shared with you, and there are a number of viruses that target online financial services.

It is imperitive that you register and install anti-virus protection on your computer (each one in your home if you have more than one).  It is also imperitive that you update this protection on a regular basis, as they expire and become dated and susceptible over time as new viruses are created.

Anti-virus software can detect and clean your computer when viruses are detected so that they do not spread.

Spyware is termed as software that installs on your computer that tracks and collects personal information, and is usually downloaded onto your computer without your consent.  It is important that your computer has up-to-date anti-spyware software.  One company that offers free downloads to protect yourself from spyware is SpyBot.  Click Here to be directed to their website for more information.
