Our History

On November 9, 1949, the Winnipeg City Police Employees Credit Union Society Limited commenced operation with a part-time manager and a very small amount of operating capital. The Credit Union began providing limited financial services to The City of Winnipeg Police Officers and their families.

During the first several years of operation, business was conducted out of a metal cash box in the Identification Room of the Crime Division at the Central Police Station on 174 Rupert Avenue and both Committee and Board Meetings were held in the police station.

Some highlights over the years have been:

1971 – The credit union’s name was changed to the Winnipeg Police Credit Union Limited.

1977 – WPCU moves from 210 Donald Street to 188 Princess Street

1998 – WPCU moves to our current location in The Exchange District – 300 William Avenue

2018 - WPCU opened it's second location - 230-266 Graham Avenue
